In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, 16-year-old Keegan Lee reflects on her cathartic decision to delete social media for 60 days and journal the experience through her thoughts, feelings, and emotions. A psychological perspective written by Dr. Bilal Ghandour, follows Keegan’s personal journey to explain the causes and deeper meaning behind her behaviors and mental processes. Both authors hope to raise awareness for using social media in a more responsible, healthy way that impacts the world for the greater good. In addition, the authors hope to provide a deeper understanding of the “why” behind universal human behaviors.
About the Authors
Keegan Lee is a highly motivated teenager that strives to make a difference on an international level. She is the founder of a global mental health campaign, host of a mental health podcast, school curriculum developer for digital wellness, monthly mental health article writer, public speaker, and Director of Wellbeing within a movement dedicated to creating a healthier techdriven world. Keegan is also an all-state cross country and track runner. She will always be keen to support digital wellness and mental health for the long term.
Bilal Ghandour, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Psychology at Elon University and practices as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Pediatric and Family Behavioral Health in Charlotte, NC. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of anxiety and personality disorders. At Elon, he also helps the cross country, track and golf athletes improve their performances through enhancing their psychological strengths. Born and raised in Lebanon, Bilal Ghandour speaks fluent French and Arabic. He moved to the United States with his wife in 2000 where he permanently resides. He has an 18-year-old son and two cats.
